Ok, so here it is! Been having problems with computer which is why I've not posted it sooner!
It was done on paper with frisket, which was a bit of a problem as the frisket was pulling the paper up in some places, and ripping it (which you can see round the edges).
I'm pleased with the flowers but not so impressed with the butterfly! I just sort of made it up as I went along with the colours-and it definitley shows eh? Anyway, not so bad as it's my first attempt. I had to scan it too as I don't have a camera yet-sorry-I'll be getting one soon!
Oh yes, I forgot to mention I traced the design from a tattoo stencil and enlarged it.

looks good for the first try. remember not to use to much pressure with the knife when cutting the frisket and to pull it off slowly and you shouldnt have probs with paper ripping. Michael

Looks good to me. I think the biggest thing is just practice making nice smooth lines. Looks like good first painting :)

Has a nice stained glass feel to it, almost. I really don't mind the butterfly. For a first painting ever, you've done a great job. If I were you, I'd hang onto this. Put it in a safe place, then pull it out & look at it again in a year or 2 next to your latest work. It's a great way to measure your progress. And given how well your first painting went (& what you've already learned from it), I'll wager your improvements will come quickly.

Very good Ruth!
Nice first try. Try to paint on cardboard instead of paper. It will be easier for the frisket and you won't risk cutting throuh the paper as much.
I love the flowers! Nice colors and details. And what Marge said about your butterfly gives me an idea: if you are good with a paintbrush, outline every colors with black. It will look like stainglass.
Beautiful work Ruth! Keep it up.
Annie :)

I think this is a great start to using an airbrush. You will like the fact that not only do you get great coverage, and the ability to use stencils, but the ability to shade and cover is a great feature to use for those beginning. Think to yourself that you do not need to completely cover everything. A great beginner book is by Pam Shanteau. Nice pics and good step by steps. I need to go back and redo some out of here too :)
Welcome and I hope you enjoy this site. It is a great one!!
