Just getting started. The arm is really light. I tried to cover up a couple of boo boos and got it very light, but maybe it will be alright if I continue lightening the rest. I'm taking my time, and trying to do a good job, but my freehand skills aren't where I'd like them. I did a couple of things right this time. I sanded my panel before starting, and pulled the stencil off before putting alot of paint on. Painting Norma Jeane is a challenge with no more experience than I have, but you got to give me credit for trying. Taking a break before moving on.

Looking really good so far. One suggestion, though. You've only used white so far, right? Instead of adding more white to the rest of her to compensate for the really bright arm, try adding a dark color that matches your panel & put the shading back onto that arm. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy your break, you've definitely earned it! Don't wanna rush this one.

I worked it a little more, and I'm done for the evening. Thank you Marge for the advice on the light arm. I'll see what I can do with it.

Okay, tell me what you think. I darkened up the top arm. I took my black and added a little intercoat clear and reducer to it. It sprayed good, but I noticed that for some reason it looked a little brown over some the white. I'm hoping it won't show after I put the candy over it.??? Is it ready to start putting color on? Do you see things I need to try to fix first? Thanks for your help.

To tell ya the truth, the only thing I see is that the shading just isn't smooth. Otherwise it looks to me like you have the lighting in the right spots, good proportions and everything. I even like the face, and I usually hate when people airbrush small faces, cause I never think they look right. So great job :)

Here's a tip for just that very thing...try adding a few drops of red to your reduced black (I use Kandy Apple myself). It takes that brown tone out.

I also think you are doing exceptionally well...I HATE doing faces and fingers (they just never turn out right), and you have a great start on both. Overall, I think its looking awesome!

I'm close to done. I may put some more candy on the hair close to the scalp. It has lots of room for improvement. My colors could easily better, and I had troubles doing the shading. It's not cleared. Still, for my first time doing something like this I'm happy. I look forward to this time next year laughing and doing things lots better.

The rule is to fix it while in white because the candy will make it stand out and make it harder to fix. If you have watched Mike's videos he says to make sure you get the white right in the first place. I hope I am not too late.

You're making great progress Jim. I'd be happy with how it's going. Keep us posted. Hopefully my first pinup looks as good.

Jim it looks a lot better then the last one man, the one think i will tell ya is fine tune your colors before ya start, i think the white mix was off, it looks way to stiff to me, it almost looks like your trying to get full coverage with only one coat. mix it like this and give it a try, mix white and reducer 50/50 then fill you air brush about 3/4 full and top it off with some good high quality lacquer thinner to the mixture that should get ya in the ball park, keep it light a "wispy" lookin and build up slowly. ;)
