We have something special for you this week! Mike will be working on a new Fine Art piece for most of the week. Be sure to catch the cam action!
This project is a 4' by 2' panel and the composition is something inspired by an early Megadeth rough sketch. Keep your eyes on the cam and watch this piece come to life!!

This piece is a lesson in all Freehanding. Attached is the original sketch... a cocept with Vic. Obviously he will not be in the painting.
We will be using this for a detailed Free Hand Tutorial, and a few other surprizes!

It started as a really rough pencil sketch, then Mike Sharpied it and scanned. The sky and some of the other effects were added in photoshop to create the composite reference you see here.

IS that first picture in stabilo at this point or is that the airbrushed outlines?
just wondering....
Head Roller
08-29-2006, 11:27 AM
The first picture is the stabilo sketch before it was tacked off. The next is airbrush outline, and the final is white where it was left yesterday.
:)
No vinyl masks or computer files were used on this piece.
so far anyway.

Sweet!
Mike, did you use a fetal skull for the little alien head model? I remember that you had some background in medical illustration...
I was doing some research last night for a project and came across a fetal skull..it's definetly different...

Zopi,
Very similar proportions. I wanted to make the the aliens look juvenile.
I like the ice cream truck amongst the destruction flavor...<G>
Flea...Born in McMinnville...lived in Clarksvegas for awhile..my best friend is from Sparta, but he wrecked alot of cars in Cookeville..<G>

Thanks guys, Like I said. It has been very rewarding. When ever one of these ideas comes across me and I get it to sketch, it doesnt always work out that I get to paint it if it is an uncommisioned piece. This one has always been the one I needed to do. Ya know what I mean? Regardless, it needed to come to life.
I am finishing it up today. I will b in the chat room to take occasional quaestions on it. I may not get riht to you but will scroll up periodically to help with questions on the project.
Thanks again for the feedback.
