Is it a full size gun?........lph300, lph400, w 300,w 400
if air is coming back in the cup, you probably have a plugged up aircap/fluid tip. It may look clean but it's not...or, somehow got dropped on the fluid tip and bent it...

Fleabag is right make sure you check all of these things and also to help with paint buildup at the tip and the needle.
Make sure you are not doing the same thing I keep doing at times. That is "air first air last " with an airbrush. Also the cup cap air vent must be open and clear. Like I said I am not in anyway an expert but I have a lot less problems.
Someone may want to correct me on this next one but I think that reducing the paint propery may have something to it too.
My troubleshooting list:
Bubbling in the Reservoir/Well
Dried paint on the tip of the Needle ... Carefully clean the needle with the nail brush
Loose Air Cap ... Tighten Air Cap
Damaged Paint Tip ... Replace Paint Tip
Hope this and what Fleabag has to offer helps

yeah its probably a build up in the air cap or nozzel... gotta clean that sucka out real good...... what type of paint are you using.... if you mix createx/autoair with Euros in the same airbrush you can get bad build up in side there.... the Waterbased stuff dries hard like rock and can block passages
