sanding sealer

ok second time I have posted ( 1st time like 3 years ago LOL ) I am in the process of stripping a solid body guiter down to bare wood. the body is basswood. My question pertains to sanding sealer. I see Mike ( and others) advocate simtec, but what really makes it better than say old masters, deft or even minwax?? I have used all of these in restoring older wood and have had excellent and very durable results. I have never used simtec so I am not saying it is not the best I just want to know what makes it better so to say.
